Customer Service Specialist
Job Description
The primary role of the Customer Service Representative is to build rapport with the customer while satisfying their needs, often under stressful situations. Must have the ability to handle many phone calls while filing, writing and following through with tasks, and making or returning phone calls.
Bassett administrative associates are typically compensated on an hourly basis. Full time (32 or more hours per week) positions with flexible schedules are available. Please note that weekends and evenings will be required.
Job Summary
A Customer Service Specialist (CSS) is responsible for providing excellent customer service in accordance with Bassett standards. They respond to customer service requests resulting from deliveries, service or warranty claims. CSS is responsible for satisfying customer’s needs by listening, assessing, responding and facilitating an effective resolution, and following through to completion. CCS processes and oversees the store’s daily business and money transactions.
Essential Functions
- Communicates excellently, both listening and verbal.
- Has good phone voice and etiquette.
- Data entry of sales orders, purchase orders, etc.
- Able to do several tasks simultaneously — must be organized.
- Clerical duties include filing, scanning, keeping good notes.
- Able to schedule service technician and deliveries.
- Possesses thorough knowledge of furniture terminology.
- Responsible for learning the terms of warranty administration.
- Has good follow-through skills.
- Reports to warehouse manager the “reasons” for service.
- Keeps daily and weekly reports for management.
- Orders parts from various factories and suppliers.
- Mails parts to customers that don’t require installation.
- Is dependable, flexible, confident, and able to work independently.
Required Experience/Abilities/Skills
- Education and/or Experience High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or six months to one year related customer service experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Language Skills Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Mathematical Skills Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume and distance.
- Reasoning Ability Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving various customer service situations.

Job Description
Our Bassett Design Consultants are responsible for building meaningful and long-term customer relationships. They have comprehensive knowledge ranging from furniture construction to design trends. They use “relationship selling” techniques through interior design consultations and makeovers to maximize selling opportunities. Our design consultants take joy in the design process!

Training
The Bassett Brand is brought to life by the people who shape the customers’ experience. Our training programs are designed to help each associate create a meaningful career at Bassett.
As part of our in-depth training program, you’ll learn: product knowledge, sales techniques, design skills, and how to build a base of loyal clients. You’ll do this though comprehensive on-line classes, videos, hands-on activities, and one-on-one coaching. We provide continuing opportunities to learn throughout your career at Bassett.
Our most successful sales people have a creative personality and passion for design. Bassett offers Interior Design certification training. Through our one-on-one coaching and educational development, we will help you build relationships with customers to help them reflect their own personal sense of style. We’ll also show you how to effectively use our complimentary design service as a powerful tool for developing customer relationships and providing opportunity for increased sales.
Opportunity
With our hourly plus generous commission compensation plan, your income is limited only by the amount of effort you apply. In addition to your commission compensation, there are other bonus opportunities. The potential income ranging from our experienced Bassett Design Consultants to our top writers, is $45,000-$120,000/year.
